Why it belongs on the bench
SenseCAP Watcher is a desk-sized physical-AI sensor combining an ESP32-S3 application processor with a Himax WiseEye2 vision processor, camera, microphones, speaker and touchscreen. It is suited to catalogue projects that customize the open firmware or turn local vision and voice-triggered events into Home Assistant automations. The Home Assistant route is not universal: Seeed’s guide requires a supervised Home Assistant installation, local network reachability and the community SenseCraft integration, and explicitly excludes Watchers running Xiaozhi firmware. Developers rebuilding the device firmware should also expect an ESP-IDF workflow that replaces the installed application image.
