Why it belongs on the bench

Adafruit Qualia ESP32-S3 product 5800 is a dedicated controller for compatible 40-pin RGB-666 TFT panels. Its ESP32-S3 module combines 16 MB flash and 8 MB octal PSRAM with a native RGB display peripheral, while the board adds a constant-current backlight driver, PCA9554A I/O expander, two buttons, touch-capable I2C, STEMMA QT, USB-C and limited spare analogue and SPI pins. A screen is not included. Panel pinout, resolution, initialization sequence and timing must all match the software; a generic 40-pin ribbon is not proof of compatibility. The catalogue’s sushi conveyor pairs controller product 5800 with display product 5797 or 5799 and provides a separate UF2 for each display. Adafruit listed the controller at US$19.95 but marked it out of stock on 2026-10-11, so confirm current controller and panel availability before committing to the build.
