Why it belongs on the bench

HackRF One is an open-source USB software-defined radio peripheral that can transmit or receive from 1 MHz to 6 GHz at up to 20 million samples per second. Its half-duplex RF chain, SMA antenna port and GNU Radio-compatible host interface suit the catalogue’s PortaPack firmware, ADS-B reception and authorized signal-analysis workflows. An antenna is not included, and one antenna cannot efficiently cover every supported frequency, so buyers need hardware matched to the intended band. Transmission is half-duplex and legally constrained; frequency coverage is not permission to radiate, interfere with services or analyze signals without authorization.

Begin with receive-only work: install the HackRF tools, verify the device, observe known public signals with conservative gain, then decode a lawful broadcast such as ADS-B where permitted. Do not transmit until you understand frequency authorization, power, antennas, filtering and the specific regulations that apply in your country.
